Executive Director and Lower Grades Teacher:
Marla Cocalis has a Masters in Social Work and a Masters in Education. She has taught lower elementary grades for public schools both in Chicago, Illinois as well as Savannah, Georgia. Her training and experience include implementing Balanced Literacy and Backwards Design with a focus on differentiation, inquiry methods, and critical thinking skills. She coordinates the K-2nd classroom.
Upper Grades Teacher:
Ali Ameduri has a post-graduate certificate of education earned at Durham University in the north east of England. Ali brings a love of teaching to Savannah Honor Academy. Her elementary school experience in both England and the New York Public School system, as well as locally in Savannah, makes for a well-rounded, dynamic, and interactive teaching and learning experience. She has received extensive training at Columbia’s Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, which aims to develop avid readers, inquiring minds, and a love of writing. She coordinates the 3rd-5th class.
